| The Emma Coombs Dance Academy was established in November 2006.
At TECDA, we produce an annual show, host ISTD and IDTA examinations, offer opportunities with external dance companies and much more.
We are open for 39 weeks of the year, coinciding with Kirklees school holidays. We are closed during all holidays. Payments are to be made per half term. TECDA offers you a 10% discount off your class bill if you attend 4 or more classes (per person per week).
A set uniform is required for ballet classes and exam classes. For all other classes TECDA leisurewear may be worn.
All uniform items are available to purchase through the dance school. We recommend Planet Dance in Batley for Pointe shoe fittings.

| SHOWS
Each July we host a spectacular show in which all pupils are encouraged to take part. We hire a professional theatre and all of the performers enjoy what is a truly magical and memorable experience. We have live singers, cascading pyrotechnics, confetti explosions, screen projections, smoke and haze machines, choreographed lighting, fireworks - fantastic special effects that are usually reserved for professional theatre companies.

To celebrate our 5th show we did a Tshirt giveaway to anyone who has performed in all 5 of our shows.
At TECDA we hold various fund raising events throughout the year to pay for our show costumes. This makes such a massive difference to our parents who only pay a small hire fee rather than paying for every dance costume in full. We achieve this by organising various fund raising events throughout the year.

| TECDA is an affiliated school of the Northern Ballet. Part of this means that the Northern Ballet come to TECDA to host a workshop once a year.
Other workshops take place throughout the year with guest teachers and West End performers. |

| EXAMS
TECDA is primarily an ISTD dance school. Children are trained in grades and awards for: Imperial Classical Ballet, Modern Theatre, Jazz and Tap Dance. Exams are encouraged but it is not always necessary.
We also offer the chance to take part in IDTA exam awards such as Rosettes and Star Dance Awards.
Anyone who takes an exam is presented with a certificate and / or a medal / rosette.
Children who do not take part in exams still recieve merit certificates annually from the dance school.
These items are presented at our annual Christmas Party and Prize Giving Evening - an evening hosted at a local venue with a bar and a buffet - a great family night out. Trophies are also presented at this event for achievements such as: Most Improved Dancer, Most Promising Dancer etc.
